For years, we have been struggling with a problem: candle making is a dirty business! Don't get me wrong: there is nothing better than creating a product that brings atmosphere and cosiness to countless living rooms. But producing it is another matter entirely!

Paraffin wax becomes liquid when melted. The higher the temperature, the more liquid it becomes. If we didn't clean the floor of our workshop every day, we would be working half a metre higher by the end of the year!

Of course, the paraffin that falls on the floor cannot be reused. But when pouring, it leaks onto the pipes, onto the table, sticks to the pourer, etc. And when we remove the candles, our work table is covered with leftovers in no time.

And so we accumulate: year after year. Leftovers from the table, surplus from refilling, candles that are unsellable. Sometimes we give the surplus away to workshops or individuals who use it to make something new. Torches, candles in a glass, floating candles, artistic projects, firelighters for the barbecue or fireplace, you name it! But this year, we decided to do something with it ourselves.

It is an intensive process. We select the paraffin wax by colour as much as possible. It is melted in a large bain-marie pot. The liquid paraffin wax is then sieved to remove all impurities. This process is repeated three times to ensure that the paraffin wax is pure enough.

And then: dip away! Yes: our dinner candles are also made from recycled paraffin. When there is not enough left to dip, we mix it with pure white paraffin and pour the candles.
